1.
Mirrors 06:14
These shards of mirrors show only one Part of my life And distort what's left It was two years And drip by drip, mistakes I made fed into my fears And the world slipped from my grasp I see your face But I can't hold on to to what I had I tried to fight But I can't let go of The pit in which I stand I had it all A house of cards, a monument Destined to fall Betrayed by my own hands It's too hard, To see pity in your eyes But still you blame for what went wrong I know I failed But I'm trying to save my soul To regain what I once had To be part of you once more I was weak But I'm trying to be strong Can you help me?
2.
I saw the end of the world, Seemed more real than the day before me I saw, everything I cared for Fade away Verse 1 It wasn't how I'd imagined No great dragon, no horseman I saw brother against brother I can't forget what I saw Verse 2 End of man not the end of days We ceased to be but the world remained What was our home, was ours no longer Without our disease, the world grew stronger Bridge So I try to live my life Even though I know how we die Should I try to warn Their innocent faces hiding a web of lies Verse 3 So I've made my decision, I'll go on just like them Not knowing my insignificance My purpose is not theirs Verse 4 I can see the true world They whine, they moan about their petty problems While half the world starve You selfish mindless fools, You're trapped in your own importance You never knew What you failed to appreciate

about

Cavernous Records are proud to announce the release of a split CD featuring The Human Condition & The River.

The Human Condition are stalwarts of the UK underground scene, its member’s lineage stretching as far back as the early nineties & incorporating such luminaries as Burial, Unsilence & The River. The band plays progressive doom metal, mixing traditional aesthetics with a more mature song writing focus & an increased technical proficiency, topped off with introspective lyrics & emotional vocals.
The River have blossomed from the monolithic bludgeon of their earlier output into a much more nuanced & thoughtful proposition. The band now paints with broader strokes & more vibrant colours, their constantly evolving sound incorporating richer textures & movements whilst staying true to their initial heavier aesthetics & ideas.

Both bands have recorded two songs for this release: one new song & one older song, recorded live in the studio. The Human Condition contribute “Mirrors”, a soaring call to arms exploring self-reflection & “End of Man”, the first song the band ever wrote which, until now, has never seen the light of day. For their part, The River contribute “Dry Mountains Burn”, a lush textural landscape of ever moving parts & a fresh arrangement of “Passing”; a song originally found on their 2019 album, “Vessels into White Tides”. All four songs were mastered at Redwall Studios by Sheldon Jolly, with artwork collated between the bands, to make the release a holistic & cohesive whole
